Alex Derevyanchuk is a Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT) in the state of California practicing as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. He is currently finishing his last semester of internship, at American River College, in order to acquire his CADCll certification. He is also trained in Brainspotting and is near completion of receiving his certificate in that specialization. Alex has been working in the field of Substance Abuse for the last four years. Before joining the wonderful team at Recovery Happens in June of 2017, he worked for three and a half years, at a group home for adolescents struggling with substance abuse and behavioral issues. During that time Alex was a lead staff in the boy’s home, as a Child Care Counselor. He additionally led psychoeducational groups with supervision from a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Alex’s personal experience of overcoming substance abuse, working in an inpatient environment, along with his education has given him a great deal of insight and ability to attune to his clients needs. He believes that addiction must be approached through a family systems model, which was why Recovery Happens was so appealing to him. Apart from providing individual sessions, he also facilitates multiple groups.
Alex considers it an honor to continue the legacy of Jon Daily and to carry his message of restoration and wellness to the individual, the family, and to our community as a whole.
